Today after breakfast we will begin our journey towards Menchukha (6000 ft) also popularly known as Mechuka or Mechukha – the forbidden valley of Arunachal Pradesh. Pachakshiri was its earlier name.
It became accessible by road only in 2003 and was previously only accessible via an airstrip – the Strategic Military Landing Strip used during 1962 Indo China War. In local language the word Menchukha literally means the medicinal water of snow where Men means medicine, Chu means water and Kha means snow. The Menchukha town is situated only 29 kms away from Indo Tibetan border and till 1959 it was part of Tibet and not India.
We will reach Menchukha around dusk. After checking in we will enjoy maggie and a warm cup of tea near the bonfire. Overnight stay in Menchukha.

Today we will only move around Menchukha. Post a lazy breakfast we will first head towards Yarlung Camp; the last army check point near McMahan Line where civilians are allowed. The best part of visiting the camp is interacting with the military officials. And if you are offered a cup of tea consider yourself very lucky. Our next stoppage is a small Hanuman Mandir. The mandir was constructed as in a nearby stone the face of Hanuman was witnessed. Next we will visit the Gurudwara “Guru kaLangar” where Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji meditated almost 400 years ago during his journey to Tibet. It is now maintained by the military where we will enjoy our afternoon Langar. Our last place of visit is Taposthan, where Guru Nanak Dev Ji stayed for more than 6 months. The place has a stream and a waterfall.
Later we will head back towards our homestay. Evening play antakshree with the locals as they love Bollywood songs. Overnight stay at Menchukha.
