Tawang
The city of Tawang is situated in the Tawang district of Arunachal Pradesh. Tawang is a hill station which is nestled in the Himalayas and is one of the most visited tourist destinations of Northeast India. The place is filled with a rich culture and history and is home to India’s largest Buddhist monastery, the Tawang Monastery which is also the birthplace of the sixth Dalai Lama, Tawang is an important pilgrim centre for the followers of buddhism. The Taktsang Gompa is a pilgrimage site here which is surrounded by hills and coniferous trees and hence, a peaceful place to meditate. Along with that, the city is also famous for its enchanting natural beauty. Tawang is home to the hypnotic ranges of Gudpi, Tawang Valley, Madhuri Lake. Apart from the hilly terrains, Tawang is also home to many glacial lakes like Sangester and Sela.
